Have I stopped him, spit? About muscle work or could it be bursitis? Well, it could be a combination of all the above. The repetitive movement like painting can easily cause your joint capsule to irritate and inflame. Usually people can say if it's muscle pain to be overloaded but when it comes to joint pain it's not that easy. The best way to find out what is causing pain and discomfort is to see your doctor. Once you have confirmed that it is a case of bursitis, then you can implement some natural methods to help you feel better. What is this thing called bursitis? Well, it's just swelling of the bursa. The donkey is a capsule full of liquid or a sac like the structure surrounding each of the joints of the body. It helps tendons and muscles move on the bones and not cause pain. Wherever you have a bone meeting, there'll be a bursa. Bursitis is typically seen on the shoulder, elbows, knees and hips. But any joint can be affected. One person described the bursa correlating it to a closing bag full of a small amount of oil that has no air present. Now, if you put the small amount of liquid in a zipper closure bag, keep it between your two palms of your hands and move them over and over, you see how smooth it moves. Well, the donkey does the same thing that helps keep the joint lubricated by holding in lubrication. If there was no liquid or if the zipper closure bag was damaged it would not be able to move the bag so easily. The causes of bursitis can be the result of repetitive movement or if the joint is packed or damaged the bursa can also be injured. The swelling that results in the bursa is called bursitis. The joint can be hot, swollen and very painful when it moves. It is very important to keep the joint relatively still during the healing process. Remember that you can always use a bit of cold or ice packs for initial pain and discomfort, but as the bursa heals, joint warming can help you feel better. Especially if the joint is one you need to continue to use. In some people, alternating heat and cold helps accelerate healing better. To help reduce inflammation there are several essential oils that have this property. There are a number of essential oils that have heating and anti-inflammatory properties in different degrees. Helichrysum and the German manzanilla are known for their anti-inflammatory and pain relief properties: As are Eucalyptus polybractea or Eucalyptus radiata, too. Lavender can help if you do not have these other available oils. Other anti-inflammatory oils include: Basil, Geranium, Rosemary, *** Sweet Birch and ***Wintergreen (***both of them are well for short-term use but not chronic diseases). Type of heating essential oils are: Ginger, Black Pepper, Sweet Marjoram, Juniper berry, Bay Laurel and Peppermint. There are several other essential oils that can also work for you. They include cloves, cinnamon leaf, thyme, oregano and hinox. Some essential oils can cause skin irritation (red) if mixed in too strong concentration. So follow the mixing guidelines by adding these particular essential oils. Once you have reduced initial inflammation, you will want to start using that particular joint very slowly at first. You will need to strengthen the muscle and tendons slowly to help prevent future recurrences. Heat the joint with a massage oil, lotion or cream using a variety of essential oils that not only heat the joint capsule, but also helps to reduce inflammation and discomfort will help accelerate the healing process. Here is a recipe that can be used during the first days to help with inflammation and pain. You can mix it in a light lotion or add to your choice of bearer oils. Castor oil is known for helping with soft tissue lesions and arthritis so you want to consider using it as part of your bearer oil mix. Because Castor oil has a tendency to be quite thick and sticky, you may want to 'enter' using a lighter oil like sunflower oil Others will find it more beneficial to have this recipe mixed in lotion or cream so it won't stain the clothes or feel too 'oily' as some bearer oils can. Bursitis Blend Helichrysum – 6 drops German Chamomile – 6 drops Sweet marjoram – 4 drops Sweet birch – 4 drops Washing machine – 4 drops Ginger – 4 drops Juniper bay – 4 drops 2 ounces of your choice of carrier oil or lotion Clean essential oils together in a glass bottle or Beaker. Then add to your oil, lotion or cream. Blend or stir well. Apply as necessary to the affected joint. Now that you have survived this Bursitis incident the best medicine to help prevent recurrence is to start exercising and strengthening muscles and supporting tissues. Remember to start slowly, heat the muscles and stretch the ligaments and tendons gently. Use a mixture of oil or heating lotion before your exercise and then again if you wish. Please see our "Fresh for You" massage oils for various massage oils that can help while you are experiencing discomfort. There are several that are large to apply before any exercise or exercise.
